The benefits of seaweed

DEAP, A CARESS FOR YOUR SKIN!

The greatest forces are to be found in nature. When the power of seaweed meets cellulose, the result is a sustainable and eco-friendly textile fibre, developed from 100% natural resources and guaranteed zero waste, thanks to a biological and biodegradable solvent, which is 100% recyclable. The properties of seaweed are thus preserved at the core of the fibre, washing after washing.

ALGAE, A RENEWABLE NATURAL RESOURCE

Seaweed is an eco-responsible raw material par excellence. No use of agricultural land, no use of drinking water, no use of fertilisers and pesticides, the algae culture draws on its natural defences thanks to marine microorganisms, that are 100% vegetable and biodegradable.
The algae are collected once every four years. We cut only the upper part, which allows it to regenerate.
We use a mixture of Fucus Vesiculosus and Ascophyllum Nodosum
These brown algae are cultivated and harvested according to the seasons, in responsible seaweed farms off the Icelandic coast. A unique place where the purity of the water is preserved through natural filtering by volcanic rocks underwater.
The harvested seaweed leaves are dried in the open air, coarsely chopped to a powder and then used in the manufacture of the fibres, without any chemical treatment. The entire process is 100% sustainable and environmentally friendly.

EXTRAORDINARY VIRTUES

Seaweed is full of valuable active nutrients, rich in minerals, trace elements, vitamin E, calcium and magnesium, exceptionally effective, which act on the skin in several ways. These properties calm and protect the epidermis, significantly reduce inflammation, eliminate free radicals thus fighting against cell ageing. Seaweed also has hypoallergenic and anti-inflammatory properties. Their healing power has notably led to the development of medical bandages.

From seaweed to fibre

A HEALTHY FABRIC

Deap exclusively uses eco-made natural fibres in materials with recognised ecological qualities. Seaweed-based fibres are produced using the environmentally friendly Lyocell process. A virtually closed-circuit production method (from nature to nature), in a company with the highest standards of progress and vision.

All the products we manufacture are labelled as sustainable, from the harvesting of seaweed to the final product. The entire production chain is respectful of humans and the environment.

TO DRESS YOURSELF IN THIS TEXTILE IS REMINISCENT OF A THALASSO CURE!

A real active exchange occurs between textile and skin, as a result of the body's natural moisture: the fibre releases nutrients (calcium, magnesium, proteins, vitamins and antioxidants...), which stimulates metabolism. It moisturises and protects the skin from damaging environmental influences. Because of its absorption quality, this seaweed-based yarn is a thermoregulatory material that keeps cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It also contains healing, anti-inflammatory, anti-perspiring, anti-allergic and anti-bacterial properties. The result is an instant sensation of softness, freshness, comfort and remarkable well-being. Besides having zero impact on the environment, this next generation fabric leaves an effect on the skin and body equivalent to top brand names in cosmetics.

Made in Austria, an experienced team of engineers and scientists are on hand to ensure the high standard of quality required.
Seaweed-based fibre has been tested and found to contribute positively by several independent institutes in quality and effectiveness. The seaweed yarn obtained, thanks to its manufacturing process protecting the environment and sustainable development, the European Environment Prize 2000 from the European Union, as well as the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 for products intended for newborns.
